Hoi An expects to reopen soon for international tourists

(TITC) - According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Quang Nam Province (Central Vietnam) is preparing the best conditions to serve tourists to Hoi An City (belonging Quang Nam) after the pilot plan of reopening for international tourism in Phu Quoc Island is successful.

The province will propose to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Government to welcome international visitors by the model of charter flights and vaccine passports.

The Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee - Mr. Nguyen Van Son said, in order to reopen for tourists to the locality, it is necessary to inject 2 doses of vaccine for local people who are full 18 years old. However, currently only about 30% of the population is vaccinated. Meanwhile, preparations for accommodation, logistics, and reception... are also being planned.

Serving domestic visitors in the immediate future

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong said that in the immediate future, the Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism will strengthen to promote online tourism, develop suitable products to attract tourists.

Local travel businesses will focus development of tourism products and services suitable to the needs of tourists after the Covid-19 pandemic. Quang Nam also improves market research, tourism promotion, linkages and cooperation in tourism development with key provinces and cities. Currently, the province is promoting to implement the cooperation program with airlines to bring visitors to Quang Nam.

Mr. Hong said the department is coordinating with the Tourism Association and the People's Committees of Duy Xuyen District, Hoi An City to develop a plan to gradually open to welcome visitors. In the short term, Quang Nam welcomes domestic tourists from provinces and cities that have controlled the Covid-19 pandemic and tourists who are injected 2 doses of vaccine to visit Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary (in Duy Xuyen).

Nguyen Van Son, Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee, said that during the past two years, the locality has temporarily stopped tourism activities because of the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. At present, Hoi An City is focusing on proposing to distribute vaccines to people, soon to achieve herd immunity before being able to reopen for visitors. For vaccination, Hoi An still prioritizes frontline forces, high-risk people, citizens working in industrial zones, coffee services, restaurants.

The Chairman of Hoi An City also said that in addition to vaccination, the process of serving tourists in the hotels and resorts must meet safety criteria. Service staffs are equipped with protective equipment, masks, disinfectants and keeping a safe distance. In addition, they have to stay in the isolation area for more than 15 days, and are allowed to go out when guests left.

Quang Nam expects to  welcome 5,000-10,000 visitors/month

According to Quang Nam Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the province will reopen for international visitors to Quang Nam basing on the ensuring safety measures in the prevention and control of pandemic according to the roadmap permitted by the Government.

Quang Nam tourism industry also are planning to welcome tourists from the potential markets with high safety in terms of Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control such as Northeast Asia, Europe, America,... Priority groups are tourists who play golf, casino, stay in resorts and rarely move. International tourists enter by air, via charter flights or regular international flights.

In order for visitors to come to Quang Nam, they must have health requirements such as getting a full dose of vaccine, testing for SARS-CoV-2 with negative results, being registered to participate in the package tours of travel agencies and have medical insurance contracts, travel insurance according to regulations. Children under 12 years old are allowed to be accompanied by parents, or guardians who have been fully vaccinated as prescribed. During travel in Quang Nam, visitors must comply with regulations on measures to ensure safety against pandemic.

Quang Nam tourism industry is expected to welcome about 5,000-10,000 visitors per month, with about 80 flights per month to serve the needs of guests.
