A view of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. An ironwood forest with thousands of century-old trees was recently discovered in the area.
Located in the province’s Bo Trach District, the forest is estimated to be hundreds of years old. The diameters of thousands of the trees span more than one meter while many more have diameters of several meters.
The forest was discovered in a valley surrounded by limestone mountains towering hundreds of meters tall, though the specific location of the forest has not been revealed to protect it from illegal loggers.
