PM: safely reopening international tourism in March as soon as possible, trying from 30th March

(TITC) - This is the instruction opinion of the Prime Minister (PM) Pham Minh Chinh at the first meeting of the Government in Lunar New Year of Tiger, on 3rd February. During the meeting are the discussions of the situation of the Lunar New Year from 29th day of 12th month to the end of the 2nd of the Lunar New Year (from 31st Jan to 2nd Feb) and key tasks after Tet.

According to the general report of the Government Office, the ministries, authorities and localities have followed the directives of the Secretariat and the PM to fully prepare welcoming the Lunar New Year 2022 in a safe, joyful, loving and healthy manner. With smooth transportation operations, aviation is recovering (accounting for an increase by 77% in passenger volume and 15.8% in cargo transported).

In the past 5 days, the whole country continued the spring vaccination campaign with more than 782,000 doses in 30 provinces and cities. In general, up to now, the pandemic situation is basically under control nationwide. The pandemic prevention and control work is gradually achieving positive results. Trade and travel activities of people on Tet holiday are basically going smoothly.

The PM concluded the meeting with the affirmation that we have achieved the set goal in organising a safe and security Tet holiday and localities have strictly followed the PM’s directions to celebrate Tet in an orderly, safe and peaceful manner.

For the tourism sector, the PM suggested that to fully reopen international tourism as soon as possible, no later than 30th April to 1st May 2022, and should try from 30th March if possible, after basically giving the 3rd dose to the designated subjects and having reasonable immigration control regulations.
