Welcome 2022 with the soar in the number of international searches for Vietnam tourism

(TITC) - Analytical data from Google Destination Insights shows the number of international search volume for Vietnam tourism is increasing sharply from the beginning of 2022. This is a blessing sign for a strong recovery of the Vietnam tourism industry in 2022, creating a great motivation for the reopening international tourism plan in the upcoming time.

The following graph 1 illustrates the number of international search volumes for airlines to Vietnam.

Thereby, the number of search volume from the beginning of December 2021, have been increasing gradually, till the end of December 2021 and beginning of January 2022 rose steeply. The number of search volume on 1st January 2022 increased by 222% compared to last month and increased 248% compared to the same period of 2021.

From January 2022 to present, the number of search volume for airlines to Vietnam have been remaining in an upward trend, some time peaked by 425% compared to the same period of 2021.

Meanwhile, the number of searches for accommodation is on the verge of soaring at the beginning of December 2021. At the beginning of January 2022 increased by 42% compared to the same period of 2021. Then it remained as a high trend and at the beginning of February 2022 reached 86% compared to the same period of 2021 (Graph 2).

Accordingly, Google Destination Insights also points out the highest number of search volume for Vietnam tourism come from countries such as the US, Australia, Russia, France, Singapore, India, Japan, Germany, The UK, Canada…

As it is presented, the number of international search volume for Vietnam tourism is increasing significantly, especially the pilot plan to welcome international tourists has been implemented since the end of November 2021, along with the promotion campaign called “Live Fully in Vietnam”. Additionally, the Lunar New Year is also an occasion when the demand for travel, tourism and family reunion increases, particularly in the context that the pandemic is under well controlled, activities are gradually recovering in a new normal state with the spirit of safe and flexible adaptation.

Earlier, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister to fully open international tourism from 31st March 2022 (including inbound and outbound) by all international border gates. It is expected that by soon fully opening international tourism, Vietnam tourism will receive great momentum to recover strongly in 2022.

According to the latest research of The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC), 2022 is poised for a strong recovery if governments continue to open up and remove restrictions to travel. Tourism sector could recover more than 58 million jobs and generate $8.6 trillion which would boost economic recovery around the world.

With the positive signs from the international search volume for Vietnam tourism at the beginning of 2022, hopefully that Vietnam tourism industry will be ready and take a great advantage to soon fully open international tourism and resume tourist operations in the near future.
