The information was provided at a briefing on the pandemic prevention situation and socio-economic development in the city on March 21.
Under the programme, the city will focus on stepping up destination promotion activities, enhancing the quality of tourism products and services, and encouraging travel agencies to hand out gifts and souvenirs to tourists.
The Tourism Department is also working with other departments and seeking approval from the municipal government on the plan to build an ecological community model in the island commune of Thanh An in Can Gio District.
According to a municipal tourism official, Ho Chi Minh City expects that a fair number of tourists will return to entertainment sites, food zones and night markets in the next 2-3 months with the reopening of international flights.
