Da Nang: Push up communication and promotion to quickly attract international visitors to regain tourism growth momentum

(TITC) - Da Nang is preparing carefully for welcoming the first international commercial flights to this city after the stagnation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. at the same time, promoting communication for restoring international flight routes to Da Nang, with swift and convenient immigration procedures to attract international visitors to the city.

Reoperate international flight routes, push up operation of new flight routes

Reporting at a working session recently, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh, Deputy Director of Da Nang Department of Tourism said that after the efforts in promoting international flight routes to contribute to the recovery of tourism, so far, 9 airlines have reoperated 10 direct international flights to Da Nang. Accordingly, the flight from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) - Da Nang and from Bangkok (Thailand) - Da Nang of Air Asia are expected to operate from 1st April 2022; Jetstar Asia's flight from Singapore - Da Nang is expected to operate from 10th April 2022; Flight from Singapore - Da Nang of Vietnam Airlines is expected to operate from 15th April 2022; Flights from Incheon (Korea) - Da Nang of Vietjet Air, Jeju Air and Jin Air are expected to operate from April 2022.

In particular, the new route connecting Da Nang with New Delhi (India) operated by Vietjet Air from September 2022 will open up a new international market for Da Nang tourism. Along with that, the first two flights from Singapore - Da Nang of Singapore Airlines and from Bangkok (Thailand) - Da Nang of Thai Vietjet will come into operation from 27th March 2022.

According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh, the two flights from Singapore and Bangkok (Thailand) landed in Da Nang on 27th March 2022, marking the official restoration of international flight routes to Da Nang after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To prepare for this event, the Department of Tourism has coordinated with relevant departments and agencies and two airlines Singapore Airlines and Thai Vietjet to welcome the first passengers on two flights, and simultaneously support communication and promotion of the above two routes.

On 27th March 2022, 3 programmes hosted by the City Department of Tourism and Danang International Terminal Investment and Operation Joint Stock Co. (AHT) and taken place at the International Terminal include: Boosting international flights from Da Nang at 8:00am; Welcoming the flight from Singapore at 11:05; Welcoming the flight from Bangkok at 11:30.

The flight number VZ960 from Bangkok (Thailand) - Da Nang carries 2 survey teams with more than 50 Thai travellers to Da Nang and the Central region to activate the tourism market exchange. At the same time, the delegation of Thai Vietjet led by Mr. Woranate Laprabang, General Director of Thai Vietjet will visit and work with city leaders to propose policies to support the Thai market in the first 3 months of the opening.

To mark the event that Da Nang is open to international tourists, the hot air balloon festival is expected to be held in the area of Bach Dang Street, with 17 balloons that will colour brilliantly in the sky of Da Nang. Along with that, the city also has a policy of free tickets at tourist attractions managed by the state in 2022, including Ngu Hanh Son Scenic Area, Museum of Cham Sculpture, Museum of Fine Arts and Museum of Da Nang; The city hotel association builds many programs with preferential rates for groups.

“In 2022, Da Nang hopes to restore aviation as it was before the COVID-19 pandemic with 31 international flight routes, especially working closely with Qatar Airways to bring the Doha (Qatar) - Da Nang flight route back to operation, an important flight route to connect Da Nang with the Middle East and European markets. At the same time, the Department of Tourism continues to promote potential new flight routes as planned in the past such as flights to Jakarta (Indonesia), Cebu (Philippines), etc. to connect Da Nang with financial and commercial centres, regional and international tourism", said Mr. Nguyen Xuan Binh.

Preparing favourable conditions to stimulus international tourism

Mr. Tran Phuoc Son, Vice Chairman of Da Nang People’s Committee assessed that, in the face of impacts and difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic for 2 consecutive years from 2020 to 2021, though Singapore Airlines and Thai Vietjet are facing many difficulties, the fact that the two airlines have made great efforts to open international flight routes to Da Nang in March 2022 is remarkable.

“Communication plays a vital role to let the resumption of international tourism soon reach the goal. Mr. Tran Phuoc Son asked the Department of Information and Communications work closely with the Department of Tourism and related departments and agencies to promote information about Da Nang tourism, flight routes and destinations, in which strongly emphasise in convenience and simplicity in immigration procedures, regulations on pandemic prevention and control to create peace of mind and comfort for tourists when choosing Da Nang as a tourist destination after a long stagnation due to the COVID-19 pandemic”.

Da Nang needs developing a plan to prevent and control the COVID-19 pandemic for international visitors to Da Nang. Along with that, Da Nang International Airport, the AHT, and the City Centre for Disease Control cooperate in organising the guidance to welcome international flights to Da Nang.

Along with the policy of reopening the door to international visitors from 15th March2022, the promotion of restoring many international flight routes to Da Nang in the upcoming time will contribute to creating favourable conditions for tourists, businesses and investors come to Da Nang to visit and research about the business and investment environment, which is an important role, connecting Da Nang with the world, contributing to the restoration of tourism and the city's socio-economic status after more than 2 years being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
