Schneider Electric Reduces CO2 Emission at Site of 2009 Climate Change Conference (COP15)

Update: 25/12/2009
The Climate Change Conference (COP15) took place at the Bella Center in Copenhagen, Denmark, on December 7-8, 2009. During COP15, leaders from across the world discussed climate change strategies in a building which, through smart measures, saves 1,250 tonnes of CO2 emission per year.

Schneider Electric helped optimize control of the building's energy consumption and modernized the ventilation and cooling systems, circulation pumps and thousands of light fittings. Not only did these measures help to meet the ambitious energy savings target of the 120,000 sq.m building, it also saved more than DKK 2 million (270 K€) per year.

In Vietnam, a typical building consumes energy with: Space cooling 60 percent, Lighting: 18 percent, Equipment: 8 percent, Lift/elevator: 5 percent, Ventilation: 5 percent and others: 4 percent. The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Office Building Survey 2008 (MOIT) shows that an average building uses at least 25 percent energy more than needed.

Olivier Jacquet, Country President of Schneider Electric Vietnam, said "Schneider Electric is the first electrical equipment manufacturer in Vietnam to focus its company policy on energy efficiency solutions. We intend to rapidly grow this new business and become a leader in building, residential, industry, energy and infrastructure markets. The first step is to raise awareness among business communities at top management levels in order for them to allow such investments for their companies".
