(TITC) - The monitoring travel trends tool Google Destination Insights recently shows the soaring in the international search volume for Vietnam tourism within a month post the official reopening for international tourism from 15th March 2022.
By far, Vietnam is wearing its crown as one of the fastest growing destinations globally, with the growth of over 75%.
The highest number of search volume for Vietnam tourism comes from countries such as the US, Australia, Singapore, France, Japan, Germany, Canada, India, The UK, Thailand…(Figure 1).

In which, the number of search volume for airlines to Vietnam from the beginning of March 2022 increased dramatically. On 1st March 2022, the number of search volume increased by 283% compared to the same period of 2021, meanwhile, by 15th March, the number of search volume has gone up by 386%; then by early April 2022, it skyrocketed to 600% and by mid-April, it reached an increase of 800% over the same period last year (Figure 2).

Besides that, the international search volume for accommodation in Vietnam also shows an upward trend. At the time of early March 2022, the number of search volume rose by 27% compared to the same period, by mid-March, it increased to 40%, by the beginning of April 2022, it jumped to 114% compared to the same period in 2021 and remains a high position in April (Figure 3).

From 15th March, Vietnam officially reopens for international and domestic tourism. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) issued Guidance No. 829 to instruct the resumption of tourism activities.
Taking full advantage of this golden opportunity, the Vietnam tourism industry has put massive efforts to organise a series of events and activities to stimulate tourism, promote and restart tourism activities across the country. The MOCST, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) have chaired and coordinated with localities to organise several kick-off activities, such as: the conference to officially launch the reopening of Vietnam's tourism on 22nd March in Quang Ninh; the opening ceremony of the Visit Vietnam Year 2022 in Quang Nam on 26th March; Kon Tum Tourism Development Forum; Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) in Ha Noi 2022; along with a series of conferences, forums to stimulate demand, promote tourism in localities such as Ha Noi, Ho Chi Minh City, Thanh Hoa, Hoa Binh, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Yen Bai, 6 provinces of Viet Bac (Eastern Region), Lai Chau, Quang Binh, Thua Thien Hue, Binh Phuoc, Mekong Delta...

VNAT has been coordinating with the General Department of Sports and Physical Training and related units to attentively uphold the media and promotion works for Vietnam tourism on the occasion of SEA GAMES 31, which is about to take place in Vietnam this May. This is a favourable opportunity to promote the image and brand of Vietnam tourism to sports delegations and friends, regional and international tourists.

Particularly, VNAT coordinated with Google and related units to promote and honour the image of Son Doong Cave, the world's largest cave, on the Google search engine homepage in many countries around the world. This is a very remarkable event, combined with promoting and stimulating Vietnam tourism on the world's leading search platform, Google, drawing special attention from domestic and foreign media.
