Government approved the National Environmental Protection Strategy to 2030, vision toward 2050

The overall goal of the strategy is to prevent the tendency of increasing pollution and environmental degradation; focus on handling main and urgent environmental matters; improve environmental quality, prevent the loss of biodiversity, contributing to responding to climate change; ensure environmental security, build and develop models of circular and green economy, low carbon, strive to achieve the country's 2030 sustainable development goals.

The strategy sets specific goals to proactively prevent and control adverse impacts that cause environmental pollution and degradation. Key and urgent environmental issues have been basically solved, environmental quality has been gradually improved and restored; strengthen the protection of natural heritage sites and restore ecosystems; prevent the tendency of biodiversity recession; contribute to improving capacity to adapt to climate change and promote mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions.

In order to achieve these above goals, the strategy presents a number of key tasks. In which, proactively prevent, control and block adverse impacts on the environment, environmental incidents such as economic development in the direction of ecology, circularity, green growth, and promotion of sustainable production and consumption.

Implement environmental zoning, improve the efficiency of strategic environmental assessment and environmental impact assessment, management based on environmental permits; proactively control establishments with high risk of causing environmental pollution; prevent bad effects; proactively prevent and respond to environmental incidents, control transboundary environmental problems.

Simultaneously, Strategies to focus on solving key and urgent environmental issues; overcoming environmental pollution and degradation; maintaining and improving the quality and hygiene of the environment; conserving nature and biodiversity, promoting environmental protection in the exploitation and use of resources; proactively protecting the environment to contribute to improving capacity to adapt to climate change and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
