Mekong Delta promotes digital transformation for economic development

Hau Giang Province and the Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association (HCA) have jointly kicked off a week on digital transformation for economic development in the Mekong Delta region.

The event opened on July 7 and saw the attendance of leaders from 32 provinces and cities as well as over 200 enterprises and business associations from throughout the country.

During the week, there will be an exhibition of solutions, ideas and technological products, as well as various workshops on investment opportunities in agriculture, industry, urban development, tourism and information technology.

According to HCA Chairman Lam Nguyen Hai Long, digital transformation is a long-term process that requires a serious investment of time, money and intelligence from any organisation involved in the process.

Hau Giang Chairman Dong Van Thanh said the province has recorded initial success in its digital transformation process and will step up efforts in all sectors to create breakthroughs in the development of the digital economy and digital society.

The event is an occasion for local authorities in the southern region to share their experience in digital transformation, especially in agriculture and tourism so that they can determine the most appropriate models for their sectors and localities.
