It will choose one to two OCOP products to promote exports this year.

OCOP includes commercial products and services like food and beverages, handicrafts and rural tourism services.

The province has 62 of them ranked from three to five stars belonging to 45 co-operatives, companies and other establishments, according to its co-ordinating office for building new-style rural area.

The OCOP programme has helped promote production from small scale to value chains, and helped develop input production areas and traditional cultures.

Nguyen Si Lam, director of the local Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said the province would continue to implement the programme effectively to improve the quality of its OCOP products.

It would restructure agriculture in combination with handicrafts, rural occupations and tourism to increase rural incomes, he said.

It would have in place support policies for the programme to improve quality, packaging, designs, brand names and intellectual property protection for OCOP products, he said.

It would organise trade promotion activities to help producers sell their products through more channels including e-commerce platforms and strengthen advocacy to develop products attached to the history and culture of the country and localities, he added.

With its advantages like beautiful landscapes and historical and cultural heritages and festivals, the province is well placed to develop OCOP products in combination with tourism.

It has budgeted VNĐ16.9 billion (US$720,000) to promote and develop OCOP products in 2021-23.
