The Khau Pha Paragliding Festival kicked off on September 25 in Mu Cang Chai district in the northwestern province of Yen Bai.
More than 100 local and foreign paragliders are currently participating in the event as part of a range of activities being held to celebrate the Xoe Thai dance being recognised as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity and the opening of Muong Lo Cultural and Tourism Festival.
Along with the impressive performances put on by paragliders, the pilots also held a number of flights for visitors keen to see the landscape from above, with guests having the chance to fly at an altitude of 1,200 metres above sea level.
Moreover, the local authority also co-operated with the Northern Helicopter Company to organise helicopter tours for visitors to admire the beautiful terraced fields in the area during the ripe rice season.
Khau Pha, one of the longest mountain passes in the country, is rated as one of the four most beautiful paragliding sites in the nation and is among the top five most beautiful flying spots in the world.
Jointly organised by the People’s Committee of Mu Cang Chai district and Vien Nam Sports and Tourism Joint Stock Company, the festival will last until late October.
