Oc Eo is a well-known archeological civilization in the South of Vietnam in the early years of AD. Louis Malleret, a French archaeologist discovered and classified the Oc Eo civilization in 1944. An Giang province has about eighty Oc Eo cultural artifacts, including Oc Eo - Ba The relic, which was determined to have a very important position. This location, where the artifact was discovered, was once a city, a port city, and a key economic and cultural hub of the ancient kingdom of Funan. Oc Eo - Ba The is historically, culturally, architecturally, and artistically significant. In 2012, the Prime Minister designated the artifact as a national unique relic. Specifically, a national monument Oc Eo - Ba The is recognized by scientists and managers as having enough potential and prerequisites to become a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site. On January 4, 2022, the Oc Eo - Ba The archaeological site was added to the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization's list of potential global cultural heritage sites.
