Promoting Can Tho tourism in Ha Noi

(TITC) On 20th October 2022, in Ha Noi, Can Tho City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism organised a Conference on tourism promotion "Can Tho - The city in the river region". Mr. Pham Van Thuy, Vice Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) attended and spoke at the event.

Can Tho is the central city of the Mekong Delta (Southern of Vietnam). The conference was organised to introduce and promote the image of Can Tho tourism, continue to develop the key tourism market, and increase the number of tourists between the two regions; at the same time, maintain and develop the round flight routes Can Tho - Ha Noi. It is also an opportunity for tourism businesses of cities to exchange information, introduce tourism products and services, connect tours,  looking for partners, signing cooperation, linking, and developing tourism between Can Tho and the Northern region.

With convenient traffic connections, tourism products of Can Tho hold the feature of the city in the river region, with Ninh Kieu wharf, Cai Rang floating market, fruit orchards, many river tourist routes, visiting and experiencing community tourism in the islands (cu lao). The city also owns many high-class resorts and hotels for conferences and big events.

VNAT’s Vice Chairman Pham Van Thuy highly praised the initiative of Can Tho City in organising the tourism promotion conference in Ha Noi. According to him, this is an opportunity to introduce Can Tho's distinctive regional cultural features, creating favourable conditions for tourism businesses of localities to shake hands and exchange products.

Via tourism stimulus programmes to show the clear and specific plan and schedule; creating a place for connecting businesses and localities, together building up featured products that attract tourists, giving a shoulder to raising the number of tourists to Can Tho in the near future, especially tourist market from the northern provinces, said VNAT’s Vice Chairman Pham Van Thuy.

VNAT’s Vice Chairman Pham Van Thuy further requested the city and businesses to focus on a number of contents to ensure the effectiveness of the recovery and development plan of tourism in the new period: (1) Continue to focus on improving the quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the destination. Developing mainstream tourism product lines, besides promoting new tourism products according to market trends such as long-term leisure tourism, health care/wellness, sports tourism, golf tourism, etc. Simultaneously, uphold the promotion activities internationally, conveying the message “Live fully in Vietnam”. Can Tho, in particular, should increase investment in developing new tourism products on the basis of promoting the uniqueness and characteristics of community culture meeting the needs of tourists post-Covid; (2) Strengthen communication and media campaigns to promote and connect markets, promoting the attraction of international tourists to Vietnam. Actively participate in and coordinate with VNAT in market promotion activities to attract international tourists; and tourism promotion activities on digital platforms; (3) Effectively promote tourism development linkages between Can Tho and other localities, especially with large tourist centres, Ha Noi particularly; strengthen linkages between businesses; encourage tourism start-ups, create favourable tourism business conditions, policies to draw investments; (4) Promote exchanges, cooperation, strongly develop product packages to stimulate tourism; offer new and attractive services and products to attract a large number of international tourists.

He also emphasised the accompanying by VNAT in supporting Can Tho and other localities in  promotion, communication and connection activities, thereby contributing to promoting the tourism industry's recovery and development.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Quyen, Vice Chairman of Ha Noi City People’s Committee said, Ha Noi and Can Tho tourism hold their own features, potentials and uniqueness. Tourism products in each locality have their own attractiveness, their own strengths in terms of geographical location and development resources. Therefore, it is necessary to connect the value chains to create attractive tourism products for each group of types provided to visitors.

The connection and cooperation of Ha Noi and Can Tho hold a remarkable meaning in the development of tourism in the two localities, Mr. Quyen stated. Ha Noi will ensure to cooperate closely with Can Tho in the term of tourism development, actively contributing to the cause of common socio-economic development between the two localities and the whole country.

Can Tho City is ambitious to cooperate with Ha Noi in terms of tourism development, strengthen tourism promotion activities, supporting and creating favourable conditions for businesses to connect, cooperate. Additionally, effectively maintaining and operating flight routes connecting tourist destinations between the two localities, Mr. Nguyen Thuc Hien, Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People’s Committee gave the remark to close the conference.

At the conference, delegates were presented with a general introduction of Can Tho tourism; tourism products of tourism enterprises… exhibition space to introduce typical tourism products of Can Tho, tourism gifts, specialties, OCOP products, displaying beautiful tourist photos….
