A seminar entitled ‘My Quang (Quang noodle) – A unique cultural food of Quang Nam’ was held on November 2 by the Quang Nam Provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
The event, which is the first-ever seminar to be held with a focus on Quang noddle, attracted the participation of scientists, cultural managers from inside and outside the province as well as representatives from research institutes, universities, and cultural management agencies.
The participants discussed the origin, history, development, ingredients and cooking process of Quang noodle.
In his speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Manh, former Dean of the History Faculty at the University of Sciences under Hue University, said that Quang noodle is a distinctive dish of Quang Nam Province, stressing that it is not only delicious, but also reflects the natural characteristics and personality of Quang Nam people.
He expressed his belief that the seminar will help Quang Nam provincial authorities to find proper solutions to preserve and promote the value of Quang noodles, and complete the building of a dossier to seek recognition as a national intangible cultural heritage.
According to Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Thanh Hong, the event aimed to affirm the unique features of Quang noodle and contribute to safeguarding and upholding folk knowledge, history, cuisine, and the traditional culture of Quang Nam Province.
Quang noddle has been served in many major political and cultural events, including was the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum in 2006 and 2018, the reception for the National Assembly deputies in 2016, the Quang Nam provincial Culture and Tourism Week in Hanoi in 2009, the Vietnam - Japan Cultural Exchange Festival, and the Street Food Festival in Hoi An. |
