Visit Vietnam Year 2023 to promote the value and potential of Binh Thuan Tourism

(TITC) - On 23rd November, in Ha Noi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) and Binh Thuan Provincial People’s Committee organised the Press conference to inform about the Visit Vietnam Year 2023 - Binh Thuan - Green Tourism Comes Together.

Attending the Press conference were Mr. Doan Van Viet, MOCST’s Deputy Minister; Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Vice Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT); Mr. Nguyen Minh, Vice Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People’s Committee; Ms. Nguyen Lan Ngoc, Deputy Director of Binh Thuan Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and reporters from central and local press agencies.

Giving his remarks at the Press conference, MOCST’s Deputy Minister Doan Van Viet said, Vietnam's tourism industry is showing signs of prosperity, vibrant activities are back in major tourist centres across the country. For the first 10 months of 2022, Vietnam has welcomed more than 2.3 million international visitor arrivals, 92 million domestic arrivals and achieved VND425 trillion of the tourist receipts. The search volume for Vietnam tourism in October 2022 showed 20% higher than September 2022 and 11 times higher than March 2022.

Binh Thuan Province with advantages of tourism destination

With a coastline of 192 km, Phu Quy island, Mui Ne national tourist area, diverse natural and human tourism resources, and a favourable natural environment, Deputy Minister Doan Van Viet believes that Binh Thuan has full of potential to develop various types of tourism products such as wellness, excursions, sports and leisure tourism on the sea, on sand dunes, adventure tourism, exploration of fauna and flora under the sea, cultural tourism, spiritual ceremonies associated with historical - cultural relics and special traditional festivals such as Nghinh Ong Festival (known as the Whale Worshiping Festival, local fishermen pray for favourable weather conditions, peace in the country, safe voyages and bumper hauls of fish), Kate festival (the Cham people honour their dead and heroes from their history), Thay Thim Temple festival (shows the spirit “drinking water, think of its source” of Binh Thuan People), Mid-Autumn lantern procession…

Binh Thuan is also a gateway for economic, cultural and social exchanges with localities in the Southeast, South Central and the Central Highlands regions; a connecting knot of major tourist centres of the Southern region such as Nha Trang, Da Lat, and Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau… During the process of tourism development, Binh Thuan has taken advantage of the local climate characteristics such as "sunshine, wind, white sand" to become economic development advantages, especially in the fields of renewable energy, resort, golf tourism…

The Visit Vietnam Year 2023 with the theme “Binh Thuan - Green Tourism Comes Together”

There are 208 activities including 13 activities chaired and hosted by the MOCST; 31 activities operated by Binh Thuan Province with inter-provincial, national and international scale taking place throughout 2023; along with that are 164 responding cultural, sports and tourism events and activities organised by 41 provinces and cities under the Central Government.

Sharing his thought about the theme of the Visit Vietnam Year 2023 - Binh Thuan - Green Tourism Comes Together, Mr. Ha Van Sieu, VNAT’s Vice Chairman stated, after the pandemic is under control, one of the requirements for tourism is to develop and adapt to the new normal, towards natural, ecological, green and health tourism products. Sustainable tourism is now a priority of the development goal. Therefore, the theme of the Visit Vietnam Year 2022 in Quang Nam is “A green tourism destination” and the Visit Vietnam Year 2023 - Binh Thuan - Green Tourism Comes Together is to emphasise the important role of green, sustainable, responsible tourism.

The Visit Vietnam Year is organised with multiple activities that will be the bright spot to attract investors, businesses and tourists. Binh Thuan has recently focused on investing, innovating and building attractive tourism products, in the hope of delivering a ‘new breeze’ for domestic and international visitors.

Updating about the recent situation of the local tourism, Mr. Nguyen Minh, Vice Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People’s Committee said, tourism activities of Binh Thuan Province are back to normal, and has been welcoming international tourist groups to the province. In the Visit Vietnam Year 2023, Binh Thuan determines to welcome 6.5 million tourist arrivals and has planned to link with provinces and cities to operate new tours to attract more visitors to Binh Thuan.

Ms. Nguyen Lan Ngoc, Deputy Director of Binh Thuan Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism informed that the highlights of the Visit Vietnam Year 2023 - Binh Thuan  include the Announcement Ceremony along with the Countdown to celebrate 2023 New Year that will be organised on 31st December 2022 at Nguyen Tat Thanh Street, Phan Thiet City, Binh Thuan Province; The Opening Ceremony will be in March 2023 in Phan Thiet City; The award ceremony of the contest "Vietnam aspiration: Making Phan Thiet the world's leading MICE and Wellness tourism destination in 2045" is planned to be held in September 2023; The Closing Ceremony and welcoming the new year 2024 is scheduled to take place on 30th December 2023 in Phan Thiet City…
