Some agencies and companies from the US will coordinate with Vietnamese authorities to organise a seminar on environmental solutions for Vietnam, said the American Telecommunications Certification Body (ATCB) on March 18.
The seminar is scheduled to take place in Hanoi on March 25 and in Ho Chi Minh City two days later.
In addition to discussing Vietnam’s environment and the effects of climate change, about 200 representatives of US and Vietnamese government agencies and businesses will examine technologies and solutions from the American environmental industry which might usefully be applied in Vietnam.
According to the ATCB, the World Bank (WB) estimates that Vietnam needs about US$2.5 billion per year to solve issues related to environmental pollution stemming from high-speed industrialisation. With a 3,000km-long coastline, Vietnam is one of countries in the world facing the risk of rising sea levels.
On the other hand, the WB considers Vietnam as one of Asia’s fertile grounds for business and tourism development. Companies in the US and elsewhere are setting sights on Vietnam’s long-term prospects.
