Master plan to minimise North river pollution

As many as 38 projects worth VND 1.089 trillion are being implemented to minimise pollution in basin of Cau River, which partly covers northern provinces of Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Vinh Phuc and Hanoi.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, these endeavours are within the framework of a master plan to keep Cau River clean in the 2008-2012.

The Cau River environmental protection committee said that the recent economic boom along the river has been the main reason behind the pollution in the river.

Surveys showed that about 800 establishments, including 200 craft villages mostly situated in Bac Giang and Bac Ninh provinces, are discharging untreated wastes to the river.
