Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Sunday pressed button to concurrently kick off construction of 12 component projects of the North-South Expressway.

This is the second phase of the country's longest expressway that runs from the northern province of Lang Son to the Southern most province of Ca Mau.
These projects has total investment capital of VND146,999 billion (US$6.24 billion), involving construction of road sections with the length of 729 km.
The sections are Bai Vot – Ham Nghi (35.2km), Ham Nghi – Vung Ang (30km), Vung Ang – Bung (23.54km), Bung – Van Ninh (30.29km), Van Ninh – Cam Lo (32.54km), Quang Ngai – Hoai Nhon (30km), Hoai Nhon – Quy Nhon (23.5 km), Quy Nhơn – Chi Thanh (22.1km), Chi Thanh – Van Phong (24.05km), Van Phong – Nha Trang (30,85 km), Hau Giang – Ca Mau (22.4km), and Can Tho – Hau Giang (37.65km).
Viet Nam currently has more than 1,400km of expressways and the figure will be increased to 3,000km by 2025 and 5,000km by 2050./.
