Poverty-Environment Photo Contest

Surpassing 1,639 photo entries, the photo “Morning Dew” by Dao Hoa Nu won First Prize of the “The relationship between Poverty and the Environment” photo contest that was held by the Vietnam Photographers Association in coordination with the Vietnam Environmental Economic Association. The photo contest was sponsored by the poverty reduction project of the UNDP (United Nations Development Program).
Speaking at the awards ceremony, Vu Van Canh, an executive member of the Vietnam Photographers Association, said that the contest encourages everyone to constantly improve and protect the living environment, gradually reduce poverty and backwardness and comprehensively benefit the Vietnamese people.
The competition is part of the project “Harmonise poverty reduction and environmental targets to reach sustainable growth from 2005-2009” financed by the UNDP and DFID (the UK Department for International Development).
