Quang Ninh: Mong Cai offers free Wi-Fi services for tourists

Update: 09/01/2023
Mong Cai city in the northern border province of Quang Ninh launched a free Wi-Fi service system, along with QRCode scanning points, on January 8 in order to enable easier access to local tourism information as part of efforts to promote tourism activities.

The purpose of the move is to provide better services for both visitors and locals by providing them with easier access to the Internet as they explore information relating to tourist destinations, accommodation facilities in the area, and tourism service suppliers based in the city.

The application of digital technology is therefore expected to greatly contribute to the northern city’s efforts to transform Mong Cai into a smart tourist city.

Pham Kim Oanh, head of the Culture and Information Division of Mong Cai, said that the city is currently home to nearly 200 tourism service businesses that are ready to serve visitors during the Lunar New Year period.

Starting from January 8, the Mong Cai (Vietnam) - Dongxing (China) border gate opened for entry-exist activities following China lifting its COVID-19 control measures and moving to re-open its border with Vietnam, she said.

Oanh said that in order to prepare to welcome Chinese tourists, localities across Mong Cai  have advised local tourism service suppliers to strictly follow regulations relating to tourism activities in a bid to enhance their service quality.

Along with developing its tourism image, the city has launched a range of promotion programmes in a bid to attract more visitors.
