Discovering Kon Tum’s most majestic waterfalls

(TITC) - With a widely dissected terrain, Kon Tum embraces many beautiful waterfalls. Each waterfall is an attractive and interesting destination in the journey to discover this land on the "Green Road of the Central Highlands".

A precious gift from Mother Nature to Kon Tum, The Siu Puong Waterfall is located at an altitude of 1,524m above sea level, amidst majestic mountains. The vertical height from the top of the waterfall to the foot is about 140m with 5 main floors in a zigzag shape. The width of the waterfall depends on the rainy season or the dry season. The most flooding season is around October, at this time the width of the waterfall is about 30m. Since the entire upstream of the waterfall is primaeval forest and has not been invaded, the water here is clear and cool all year round. Visitors might find it’s quite difficult to reach the waterfall but it is surely worth the try.

Dak Che Waterfall

Another beautiful waterfall which upstream is the forests of Ngoc Linh massif, located next to Ho Chi Minh Road in Dak Man Commune, Dak Glei District, nearly 25 km from the district centre. This is the ideal stopover spot for visitors to admire the snowy waterfall falls from above as a remedy to relieve all fatigue after a long journey.

Ngoc Linh Commune, Dak Glei District is not only known as the place where the Xo Dang ethnic people have lived for generations with villages in the middle of the mountain covered with white clouds all year round and terraced fields, there is also a very beautiful waterfall, the villagers here call it Dak Bru Waterfall. The waterfall is about 20 metres high, and emerald water all year round. Large threaded rocks due to the erosion of water at the foot of the waterfall add colour to the picturesque background. Above the waterfall and at the foot of the waterfall are terraced fields, visitors coming in the harvesting season can have a chance to enjoy a poetic scene, why not have your camera ready.

Y Hai Waterfall

There is a saying “It is hard to get something beautiful”, so do the same for Y Hai Waterfall. The location might discourage some visitors, from Ngoc Linh Commune along Provincial Road 673 to Mang Ri Commune, Tu Mo Rong District, the section adjacent to Provincial road 672, lies the mesmerising waterfall falling from a high mountain, that is Y Hai Waterfall. At the top of the waterfall is the revolutionary historical relic site of the Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee Base with deep green primaeval forests and below is the winding terraced fields, stacked on top of each other, creating an ink painting in the majestic forest.

Tea Prong Waterfall

In addition to Siu Puong and Y Hai waterfalls, there is another famous waterfall in Tu Mo Rong District, which is Tea Prong Waterfall in Dak Chum 2 village, Tu Mo Rong Commune. The waterfall is located about 500 metres from Provincial Road 672, the sound of water flowing will be the perfect signage to get you to your wanted location. A stream of white water flows in the middle of the forest, bringing a refreshing, peaceful feeling. Because it is formed on high sloping terrain, multiple spots form different layers of water, so it is also called "multi-tiered" waterfall.

It is, without a doubt, Kon Tum is once called “The heaven of waterfalls”, since the province possesses so many charming and magnetic waterfalls. In addition to the waterfalls mentioned above, you should discover number falls in Kon Tum,  namely Dak Pe Waterfall (Dak Ha District), Khi (Monkey) Waterfall (Sa Thay District), Mo (Dreaming) Waterfall (Kon Tum City), Kon S’koi Rapids, Bring Waterfall (Kon Ray District), Koi To Waterfall (Kon Ray District), Dak R’ve Waterfall (Kon Ray District), Pa Sy Waterfall (Kon Plong District), etc.
