Fruits sold around 20-40% cheaper at Southern Fruit Festival 2010

Update: 03/06/2010
The Southern Fruit Festival 2010 officially opened on June 1st and will take place during the three summer months. The organizing board for the festival said nearly 1,000 tonnes of fruits are expected to be sold around 20-40% cheaper than at an outside market.

This year, the weather is favorable, partially thanks to no intercalary month and the festival occurs during the southern fruit season, thus the selling price will be much cheaper than at last year’s festival.

Specifically, the festival will be highlighted with kiosks on boats such as “fruit floating market”, with 70 kiosks displaying more than 45 specific types of fruit from the south and other regions, including famous specialties like Cho Gao dragon fruit, Long Co Co pomelo, Cu Lao Dung pear-mango, Ba Den custard-apple and Cam Cao mango, along with 30 other dishes processed from fruit.

This year’s festival will have representatives from fifteen provinces and cities from the north and the south manning over seventy booths, together with the participation of foreign associations, such as the U.S. Apple Association and the Vietnam China Trade Promotion Center for the first time.

Moreover, the festival will have major other activities, such as a competition to make artworks and cuisine by fruit, the parade of magic seeds and gods of fruits, and folk games.

The festival will close on August 31st.
