A ceremony of was held by local authorities, the Vietnamese Consulate General and the Vietnamese - Thai Association in the province in Thailand’s Khon Kaen province on March 18 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the One Pillar Pagoda, a symbol of the Vietnam - Thailand friendship in the province.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Dang Thi Gai, President of the Vietnamese - Thai Association in Khon Kaen province, said that the One-Pillar Pagoda in Khon Kaen province pagoda was built in the Thailand - Vietnam Friendship Park and inaugurated on March 14, 2008, and it has become an attractive tourist destination.
On this occasion, Consul General Chu Duc Dung briefed the participants on the original One Pillar Pagoda in Hanoi, recognized by the Asia Book of Records for its unique architecture.
Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen province Chanchai Sornsriwichai stressed that pagoda is not only a spiritual highlight of local residents, but also an attractive tourist site.
The local authorities and the Consulate General are now implementing a project to upgrade the park with total investment of about 5 million THB (147,000 USD), which is expected to be completed in 2024./.
