Southern Folk Cakes Festival 2023 to take place from 28th April to 2nd May

(TITC) - The Southern Folk Cakes Festival 2023 will take place from 28th April to 2nd May 2023 in Can Tho City, with 300 booths.

The Festival is organised to create favourable conditions for businesses and artisans to associate, cooperate, promote investment, promote folk cakes; contribute to preserving and promoting the value of Vietnamese culinary culture in general and the value of Southern folk cakes in particular.

Accordingly, there are 7 activities will take place during the 10th Southern Folk Cakes Festival 2023, with the Opening Ceremony at 7pm on 28th April (9th day of the 3rd lunar month) at Binh Thuy District Square (Can Tho).

The festival will also include the celebration of Hung Kings’ death anniversary on the 10th day of the third lunar month (29th April) at the Hung Kings Temple in Can Tho.

Traditional cake-making contests and shows are scheduled to take place from 29th April to 1st May. It is expected to welcome thousands of visitors to visit and enjoy. Besides, folk games for visitors; “Folk cake and childhood” booths by An Thoi 2 Primary School and Binh Thuy Primary School; An Thoi Secondary School and Tra An Secondary School will be presented at the Festival. Closing Ceremony will take place on 2nd May.

According to the Can Tho Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the total number of booths arranged at the festival is 300 booths, of which there are 160 stalls of folk cakes, the rest introducing OCOP products, specialties, regional cuisine… In the contests, there are 20 teams, representatives of 9 districts; 9 provinces/cities and two freelance units participate in the competition. The number of cakes for the contest is 40 dishes, with 80 artisans.
