At the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Long – Head of Tourism Division (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) shared civilized behavior skills in tourism, tourism benefits, and communication skills; promote the value of historical and cultural relics for tourism development; develop community-based tourism in association with new rural construction.

Accordingly, tourism is to satisfy the senses: seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, smelling and perception/sense. Therefore, people who provide tourist services should pay attention to meet these needs of tourists in building products and serving guests.

According to Dr. Pham Hong Long, there are two types of guests (introverts and extroverts). Extroverted guests are more alive, easygoing, and it is easier to serve. Introvert guests are thoughtful, calm, and meticulous, so they have higher requirements. Depending on the target audience, the tourist service providers should behave accordingly.

In addition, to attract visitors, it is necessary to satisfy their eyes by always smiling, well dressed; satisfy the hearing by constantly praising guests; always taking care of them. Follow the SOFTEN principle: always smile; open, friendly, sociable; witty, humorous; greeting and shaking hands sincerely; should look at the guest when conversing; and always nod, approve, support.
