(TITC) – Rural Homestay is a breakthrough project for eco-tourism, contributing to promoting tourism development in Tan Hoa commune (Minh Hoa District, Quang Binh Province).
Rural Homestay is a unique weather-adaptive lodging model sponsored by Oxalis. On 15th May 2023, Oxalis Adventure held the opening ceremony of Rural Homestay adapting to the weather in Tan Hoa commune. The ceremony attracted the participation of leaders of the Department of Tourism and provincial departments, the authorities of Minh Hoa district.
The Rural Homestays locate about 70km northwest from centre of Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. With the idea of "adapting to the weather", adapting to the annual floods in the region, the rural homestays are built based on model of flood-resistant floating houses of households in Tan Hoa according to a non-refundable sponsorship agreement between Oxalis and the homeowners, for locals to engage in business partnerships with Oxalis.
Each homestay offers spacious rooms with area from 26m-40m², suitable for 1-3 people, and equipped with the necessary amenities. When a flood occurs in Tan Hoa, the homestays will emerge. This provides guests an unparalleled opportunity to experience local life on a floating house while admiring the breathtaking natural scenery visible only during flood days.
Guests at the homestay are provided with breakfast and free services at Tu Lan Lodge, which Tu Lan Lodge directly manages. Also, guests have many activities to participate in such as exploring the Tu Lan cave, taking an ATV off-road tour to discover the Tan Hoa ironwood forest, cycling to explore corn fields, visiting villages, and experiencing local dinner services to understand better the culture and life of the people in the region known as the “flood-prone region”.
The introduction of weather-adapted accommodation and tourism activities in Tan Hoa will contribute to overcoming seasonality due to local weather in each flood season; at the same time, promote the potential and enhance the community's participation in tourism activities.
