The Provincial People's Committee (PPC) released a dispatch on May 29th regarding the organization of events in response to World Environment Day (June 5th) and World Oceans Day (June 8th) 2023.
The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) launched World Environment Day (June 5) with the theme "Solutions to Plastic Pollution," focusing on implementing the campaign "Fighting Plastic Pollution" to strongly convey the message and build a sustainable lifestyle in harmony with nature; rational use of natural resources, biodiversity, and climate change adaptation; control and solve plastic waste pollution; increase recycling and reuse; and promote the green economy.
In 2023, the theme of World Oceans Day was launched by the United Nations: "Ocean Planet: Tides are changing" with the meaning that oceans cover the majority of the Earth, but only a small portion of its waters have been explored. Despite humanity’s utter reliance on it, and compared to the breadth and depth of what it gives us, the ocean receives only a fragment of our attention and resources in return. However, everything on Earth is changing, both on land and in the ocean. Humanity must work together to preserve and safeguard the ocean and the entire blue globe.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment launched Vietnam Sea and Islands Week (June 1-8) with the theme "Exploitation and sustainable use of resources, environmental protection of sea and islands" in order to implement the Law on Marine and Island Resources and Environment, as well as undertakings, policies, and laws on management, exploitation, efficient and sustainable use of natural resources, and marine and island environment protection.
The PPC requests that, depending on the circumstances, each unit organize propaganda activities for World Environment Day (June 5) and World Oceans Day (June 8), 2023, that are far-reaching, practical, and effective for all cadres, civil servants, employees, members, and union members, and especially pervasive, strongly influencing community awareness.
