(TITC) - On 3rd July, in Osaka, Japan, Workshop to introduce potential, promote Vietnam - Japan tourism in 2023 took place. Mr. Pham Van Thuy, Vice Chairman of Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) leads the Vietnamese delegation to attend and present the potential of Vietnam tourism.

At the Workshop, HE. Mr. Ngo Trinh Ha, Consul General of Vietnam in Osaka, Japan said, the workshop is organised to promote connection and cooperation in tourism and trade, promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam in Japan, contributing to further tightening the good relations between the two countries on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.
Vietnam and Japan have officially established diplomatic relations for 50 years and are currently in the best stage of developing relations in all fields. Over 50 years, along with the efforts of the leaders and people of the two countries, the cooperation and friendship between Vietnam and Japan promises to develop even more strongly in the coming time.

Japan is known for its many attractive tourist destinations that mix between traditional and modern beauty imbued with identity. Food of Japan, especially the Osaka, Kansai is diverse, delicious, eye-catching and highly appreciated by tourists all over the world. On the other hand, Vietnam is a country that is considered as one of the most worthy tourist destinations in Asia with the beauty of nature, friendly people and unique and attractive street food. Therefore, Japan is increasingly becoming a favourite tourist destination of Vietnamese people, and at the same time, Vietnam is long beloved by Japanese tourists, the number of exchanges between the two countries has also increased significantly in recent years.
According to HE. Mr. Ngo Trinh Ha, the Workshop is an opportunity for the tourism promotion agencies of Vietnam and Japan to introduce tourism potential, and at the same time exchange, update information, and cooperate in the tourism.
According to VNAT’s Vice Chairman Pham Van Thuy, Vietnam and Japan have many similarities in terms of natural and cultural landscapes, creating favourable conditions for culture and tourism management agencies of the two countries to effectively implement culture and tourism promotion programmes. The beauty of the landscape, Japanese traditional culture, traditional dishes, tea ceremony, ikebana flower arrangement, origami paper folding art ... are interesting to Vietnamese people and they want to experience in person. Otherwise, an increasing number of Japanese people are learning Vietnamese, coming to Vietnam to learn about the beauty of Vietnamese culture and beautiful scenery.
As a result, the number of Japanese visitors to Vietnam tends to increase. In 2019, Vietnam welcomed a record number of nearly 1 million Japanese visitor arrivals. On the contrary, Japan is also a favourite destination of Vietnamese visitors with tourism products of culture, heritage, shopping, cuisine… and there were nearly 500,000 Vietnamese visitor arrivals to Japan in 2019. In the first 6 months of 2023, Vietnam has welcomed more than 5.57 million international visitor arrivals, including over 240,000 arrivals from Japan.
Overview of the Workshop
In the coming period, Vietnam’s tourism industry will continue to promote the development of product lines of cultural tourism, eco-tourism, urban tourism, sea and island tourism with addition unique products, professional service style to deepen the perception of cultural and natural values of the beautiful country of Vietnam to international tourists, including Japanese tourists. Tourism promotion programmes to introduce tourism destinations will be enhanced, promoted and diversified in all aspects. Additionally, with policies to facilitate entry and exit, procedures, and programmes to introduce destinations regularly and continuously, the exchange of visitors between the two countries will develop rapidly and sustainably.
VNAT’s Vice Chairman Pham Van Thuy hopes that attending delegates and distinguished guests will feel the joy, friendliness and hospitality of Vietnam and Japan tourism post the pandemic. Businesses will be updated with new information, destinations and products to actively implement tourism plans and programmes connecting the two countries. In addition, the tourism cooperation between the two countries is growing, rapidly achieving new milestones in tourism development. Since then, the Vietnam-Japan cooperation relationship, including the tourism sector, will be widely spread to businesses and individuals so that each individual can become an "ambassador", a bridge between the two countries tourism.
