A fine arts exhibition entitled “Dream of the Far East” is taking place in Ho Chi Minh City from August 14-17 as one of the largest fine art exhibitions on Indochina in Vietnam.
“A Hanoi street corner” is an oil painting on board by Victor Tardieu.
The exhibition, which is held by Sotheby’s, a British-founded American multinational fine arts corporation, introduces nearly 60 paintings selected from 200 artworks by more than 20 painters including Victor Tardieu, Jean-Louis Paguenaud, and Andre Maire.
The exhibits feature the land and people of Indochina that were created by professors from the Fine Arts School of Indochina and artists traveling from France.

It has been nearly 100 years since the establishment of the Fine Arts School of Indochina this is a chance to look back on the contributions of French painters to Indochina.
The artistic journey carried the ambitions, dreams, and perspectives of each individual and the whole collective as well as highlighted the influence of the West on the flow of Vietnamese arts and vice versa.
The painting titled “Ba Vi Range seen from a Son Tay field" is an oil painting by Joseph Inguimberty.
In the summer of 2022, Sotheby's organised the first painting exhibition in Vietnam, featuring more than 50 artworks by Le Thi Luu, Le Pho, Mai Trung Thu, and Vu Cao Dam, who graduated from the first courses at the Fine Arts School of Indochina.
