A national relic site

Ban Than - Hon Mang - Hon Dua is located Northeast of Tam Hai and is about 400 million years old. The shape and colour of the stone steps there are manifestations of the Earth's crust evolution, related to the formation and spreading of the South China Sea. It has recently been recognised as a national relic site.

At the same time, it brings great value to research and clarifies the geological development stages of the Earth's crust.

Ban Than - Hon Mang - Hon Dua is the unique landscape in Quang Nam and in Vietnam. Ban Than is a cliff; Hon Mang and Hon Dua are two separate islands located a few hundred metres Southeast of Ban Than.

Ban Than - Hon Mang - Hon Dua has strips of shiny black rocks and is surrounded by about 100 species of coral covering an area of over 90 hectares.

It is also home to 41 species of seaweed and 168 species of fish, a lot of which have high economic values.

Ban Than - Hon Mang - Hon Dua is both the pride and the livelihood of local residents. So, they always keep it clean and clear.

Community-based tourism development

Ban Than - Hon Mang - Hon Dua has a lot of potential for tourism development. However, it is necessary to have much support from the local government in order to build the infrastructure and develop tourism products.

Besides, the locals should be provided with the knowledge of making community-based tourism.

According to the People's Committee of Nui Thanh district, Tam Hai island has been identified as a key for tourism development in the period of 2021 - 2025 with a focus on sustainable community-based tourism development.

Currently, the government of Nui Thanh district is planning to renovate the infrastructure, strengthen the advertising and promotion for Tam Hai tourism, improve the environment, and restore a 15-hectare mangrove area.

In addition, Nui Thanh is making every effort to preserve and restore festivals, folk cultural activities, and traditional crafts for local tourism development.

Several tourism products and tours will be formed, including sightseeing at charming and attractive scenic spots, and experiencing the day of a fisherman.

Moreover, Nui Thanh will cooperate with Tam Ky and Phu Ninh to jointly form joint tours of the 3 localities.
