International visitors to Vietnam in the first 5 months of the year increases by 64.9%

(TITC) - According to the General Statistics Office, in May 2024, the number of international visitors to Vietnam recorded nearly 1.4 million arrivals. In the first 5 months of 2024, nearly 7.6 million visitors came to Vietnam, up 64.9% over the same period last year and up 3.9% to 2019.

RoK continues to be Vietnam's largest source market (accounting for 25.7%). China ranked second, 21.2%. Next are Taiwan, US, and Japan. In the top 10 largest markets of Vietnamese tourism, there are also Malaysia, Australia, Thailand, Cambodia, and India.

In the period January to May 2024, compared to the same period of 2023, the Asian region has very good growth (73%), with the main driving force coming from Northeast Asia: China (+302.3%), Korea (+ 48.1%), Japan (+41.7%), Taiwan (+110.1%). Besides, Southeast Asian markets grew well, such as Indonesia (+117.8%), Philippines (+54.1%), Malaysia (+11.9%), Cambodia (+17.7%), Singapore (+10.1%). Only the Thai market decreased by 16.4%. India continues to grow impressively by 39.2%; Australia increased by 35.4%.

European region continues to grow well (+57.1%) thanks to the effectiveness of open visa and immigration policies applied from 15 August 2023. Most markets are very positive, including UK (+31.6%), France (+39.5%), and Germany (+34.6%). Besides, Italy (+72.8%), Spain (+45.5%), Russia (+75.0%), Sweden (+34.7%), Switzerland (+30.9 %), Denmark (+36.0%), Belgium (+32.6%), Norway (+36.6%) ...

Recently, Vietnam tourism has witnessed a strong recovery. The number of international visitors in the first 5 months of this year was 3.9% higher than before the pandemic. It is the proof of its recovery and development of Vietnam tourism.
