Phu Tho Province and Shimane Prefecture (Japan) enhance cooperation to high-tech manufacturing and tourism

(TITC) - On 26th May 2024, the business delegation from Shimane Prefecture (Japan) led by Mr. Tatsuya Maruyama, Shimane Prefecture Governor, had a meeting in Phu Tho Province. Mr. Bui Van Quang - Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee chaired the meeting.

At the meeting, Mr. Bui Van Quang - Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee gave a brief introduction of favourable conditions in investment attraction activities of the province. Phu Tho Province is located in the Northern Midlands and Mountains of Vietnam, is the gateway connecting the Northwest region of the country with Ha Noi, located on the economic corridor Kunming (China) - Ha Noi - Hai Phong and the Capital region; 40 minutes by road from Noi Bai International Airport; has a natural area of 3,500 sq. km with a population of 1.6 million people; The workforce is 860 thousand people (over 70% have been trained).

Regarding culture, Phu Tho Province owns 2 Intangible Cultural Heritage elements registered by UNESCO, favourable for tourism development and welcoming international visitor groups. These are great potentials to promote production, business, exchange and cooperation activities at home and abroad. By the end of 2023, Phu Tho Province has 7 projects from Japan with a total registered capital of about USD 350 million. Japanese investment projects have created jobs for more than 2 thousand local workers. Besides, Phu Tho Province has thousands of labour working in the Japanese market.

Mr. Bui Van Quang - Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People’s Committee hopes that through the visit and meeting in Phu Tho, Shimane Prefecture and Phu Tho Province will strengthen the practical and sustainable cooperative and close relationships based on promoting potentials and strengths; especially in agriculture, tourism and traditional cultural values… Phu Tho Province always welcomes investors, including Japanese businesses.

Mr. Tatsuya Maruyama, Shimane Prefecture Governor stressed, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's official visit to Japan in December 2023 has strengthened cooperative relations between the two countries; creating conditions for Shimane Prefecture to have opportunities to cooperate with localities in Vietnam, including Phu Tho Province. Like many prefectures and cities in Japan, Shimane Prefecture is facing population ageing and labour shortage. Therefore, Shimane wishes to cooperate with Phu Tho Province in the field of labour, actively supporting and coordinating to send people to work and live in Shimane Prefecture. In addition, the two provinces will strengthen cooperation and exchange in the fields of industrial production, high-tech agriculture and tourism…

In the framework of the visit, the business delegation from Shimane Prefecture (Japan) paid visits to Hung King Temple Historical Relic Area, Vietnam Sunergy Cell Company Limited at Cam Khe Industrial Park and Vietnam - Japan Cultural Exchange Center at Wyndham Thanh Thuy Hot Mineral Tourist Area.
