Dien Khanh Ancient Citadel (Dien Khanh district, Khanh Hoa province), a nationally famous historical and cultural relic, will be innovated in the 4th quarter this year.
Dien Khanh Ancient Citadel is located 10km from Nha Trang City. Built in 1793 in the Nguyen dynasty, the citadel still retains its original historical, cultural and architectural values over 230 years.
The citadel has gone through several innovations. The Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee have given drastic instructions to preserve and promote the values of Dien Khanh Ancient Citadel.
In late 2023, Khanh Hoa Provincial People’s Committee approved the feasibility study report for Dien Khanh Ancient Citadel restoration and innovation project. The project will improve the landscape and innovate the architecture, contributing to local economic, cultural and social development motivation.
Accordingly, the Provincial Development Project Management Board was assigned as an investor by the Provincial People's Committee. The project has an implementation cost of nearly VND167 billion, including VND70 billion for construction and VND67 billion for site clearance compensation.
Since early 2024, the investor has announced this project. Specifically, the project has 12 work items, including the repair, and restoration which is based on preserving the original values; building a new paved alley along the inner protection boundary; building parking lots; an arch bridge, parks, a lighting system; dredging and drainage, etc.
According to Nguyen Thanh Hien, Director of the Provincial Development Project Management Board, the project design drawing has been completed and the verification is expected to finish on June 20 and then reported to the Department of Heritage for comments.
Regarding site clearance compensation, the consulting unit is making a map inspection report to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment for appraisal. The work is expected to be completed before June 20.
The board will then work with the Land Fund Development Center and Dien Khanh District People's Committee to issue a decision on land acquisition to carry out site clearance compensation for the project. In addition, the board is implementing the project construction drawing design. The contractor selection is expected in September and the construction will begin in the fourth quarter of this year.
According to Nguyen Tan Cuong, Vice-Chairman of Dien Khanh District People's Committee, the total land area of Dien Khanh Citadel is more than 251,768 m2. When the project investor hands over the site clearance marker pile, the locality will proceed with site clearance for the construction.
