Vietnam and Pakistan promote culture, sports and tourism cooperation

(TITC) - On 24th July 2024, in Ha Noi, Mr. Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) had a meeting with Mr. Kohdayar Marri, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan in Vietnam.

At the meeting, MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong congratulates Mr. Kohdayar Marri to be appointed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Pakistan in Vietnam.

MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong said, Vietnam - Pakistan culture, sports and tourism cooperation has achieved certain results when in 2004, Vietnam and Pakistan signed a Government-level tourism cooperation agreement. In 2017, Pakistan participated in the 5th Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM). Vietnam also participated in the online seminar on "Potential and opportunities for cooperation between Vietnam and Pakistan in the field of tourism" in June 2022…

Sports cooperation between Vietnam and Pakistan is currently mainly through the exchange of referees, coaches, and athletes participating in international sports tournaments and major sports festivals.

Assessing that the potential for cooperation in culture, sports and tourism between the two countries is remarkably large, MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong hopes that, in the coming time, Vietnam - Pakistan will increase delegation exchanges at all levels; research and sign cooperation documents; promote cooperative activities in the field of culture such as performing arts, cinema, fine arts, photography and exhibitions, heritage, museums…

The two sides can organise photo exhibitions about the country, culture and people of Vietnam and Pakistan; movie week in each country; concerts… MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong affirmed, in addition to traditional art, academic art in Vietnam is also developing strongly. The two sides increasing the exchange of artist groups and organising performances will help people enjoy cultural values; contribute to enhancing people-to-people exchanges. In addition, the MOCST will support Pakistan in organising cultural and artistic events to introduce Pakistan country's culture in Vietnam.

Along with that, the two sides need to consider participating in international art festivals, cultural and art creation camps, and international tourism fairs held in each country.

In tourism, MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong proposed that the two countries increase exchange and update information on each other's tourism industry; organise the exchange of delegations to share experiences in tourism development, creating conditions for travel businesses from both sides to explore opportunities for cooperation in product development and market expansion.

According to Ambassador Kohdayar Marri, Vietnam is a country that has achieved many achievements in the development of Culture, Sports and Tourism, therefore, Ambassador Kohdayar Marri hopes that Vietnam will share its experience in developing a number of fields managed by the Ministry.

Regarding tourism, Ambassador Kohdayar Marri hopes that the two countries will research and open more flight routes, including direct flights to create favourable travel conditions for the people of the two countries; contribute to tourism development. The two sides also need to strengthen destination promotion so that the people of Vietnam and Pakistan can understand each other.
