Promoting ecotourism in Bidoup- Nui Ba National Park

Recently, a conference on promoting ecotourism in Bidoup -Nui Ba National Park was held by the Lam Dong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, JICA project, and the Administration of Bidoup National Park. The conference focused to introduce ecotourism developing strategies and tourist services in Bidoup.

Bidoup - Nui Ba National Park, located in districts of Dam Rong and Lac Duong, Lam Dong province, is considered as one of the largest protection areas in Vietnam having an area of 66,067.47 ha, where is home to 1,933 species of flora and 398 species of fauna. Therefore, the province is enhancing to promote ecotourism through pilot tours visiting 6 spots in the Park.

The JICA project, themed "Enhancing community-based management capability in Nui Ba -Bidoup Naitonal Park" is carried out on base of the cooperation program between Vietnamese- Japanese governments aiming to protect eco-system and to develop community- based ecotourism as well as to achieve sustainable and harmonious benefits to both the Bidoup National Park and local community.

At the conference, members of the project and local travel enterprises discussed about local ecotourism development trend; difficulties and challenges as well as prospects which local authorities and communities could gain when the project comes into operation.
