InnovGreen is the only forestry enterprise in the foreign economic sector to win the environment-friendly title, part of the Rong Vang (Golden Dragon) prize, to be announced in Hanoi on January 10, 2009.
The award recognises the multi-national group’s achievements in afforestation in Vietnam since 2004. Its afforestation projects are running from the northern province of Lang Son and Quang Ninh, to the central region covering Thanh Hoa, Nghe An and Quang Nam, and ending up in the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum. Its investments reached USD 284 million, to cover 319,000 ha of land with forests.
In addition, InnovGreen has actively taken part in charity, by providing relief aid to victims of natural calamities, shipping warm coats for poor school pupils, and presenting gifts for children and people of ethnic minority groups on the traditional New Year (Tet) festival.
InnovGreen Vietnam General Director Dean Wu said that, as a successful business in Vietnam, his company fully understood that sustainable development should be closely associated with environment-friendly and community-based operations.
The Rong Vang prize is held annually by the Vietnam Economic Times, in association with the Foreign Investment Agency, under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, in recognition of foreign-invested businesses’ contributions to the national economy.
The prize rewards the foreign economic sector’s efforts in environmental protection, job generation and transfer of advanced technology.
