(TITC) – From June 26 – 27, 2012, in Hue City, the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT), Department of Science, Technology and Environment (DSTE) (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), and Thua Thien Hue’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DCST) joined to organize a workshop on environment protection in Vietnam’s tourist accommodations.
Attending the event were Director General of VNAT Nguyen Van Tuan, Director General of DSTE Le Duc Chuong, Head of Cooperation and Development Board- European Delegation in Vietnam, Ms. Bérénice Muraille, representatives of relevant departments and experts.
At the workshop, participants discussed issues as awareness, strategic direction, roadmap of environment protection; funding for environmental protection, connectivity between individuals, organizations and state enterprises in environment protection; experiences in financial management; measures to promote cooperation between the tourist’s enterprises and international organizations in protecting and developing natural resources, building a green economy...
In order to deal with climate change which greatly influences tourism environment, tourist accommodations in the Viet Nam have improved awareness in environmental protection, towards sustainable development and growth. However, because of the subjective and objective reasons, some enterprises have not been complying with law on environment properly.
The workshop was an opportunity to raise awareness and exchange of experiences in environment protection in hotels and resorts in Viet Nam, contributing to developing a clean and friendly tourism environment.
