A seminar discussing ways to boost information dissemination in support of water pollution control was held in central Quang Nam province on Mar. 25. The event was part of a WB-funded technical assistance project to enhance Vietnam’s capacity in water pollution prevention and control.
The project will be implemented in central Quang Nam and northern Bac Ninh provinces on a trial basis, said the project Director Nguyen Hoa Binh, who is also head of the Department for solid Waste Control and Environmental Improvement.
The 330,000 USD project is carried out in 2008-2009, with funding sourced from the World Bank’s Institutional Development Fund (IDF), including 300,000 USD in ODA.
Environmental experts presented a number of reports on the project, including those on the role played by the media and local communities in support of pollution control in Vietnam.
