Six rare gibbons rescued by police

Update: 09/07/2013
Six rare gibbons were handed over to a rescue centre for wild animals yesterday.

Earlier on Wednesday, environmental police officers raided an establishment that was raising and holding caged wild animals illegally.

Owned by 55 year old Nguyen Thi Diep Hong, the prohibited operation was located in southern Binh Duong Province's Ben Cat District.

Hong could not provide any documents verifying the origin of the gibbons. Later the police also raided another illegal operation that was keeping 18 spotted deer and three rare peacocks, also in the same district.

The cases are pending waiting further investigation.
