Discovering Moc Chau

Update: 19/09/2013
Who is not lucky enough to drive a car to Moc Chau Plateau cannot understand the special feeling and experience with steep zigzag winding Cun Slope. Casting the sight on the horizon, you will see soft white tepid clouds circling mounts like the veil of a beautiful girl sleeping with nice dreams. Legendary landscapes in any fairy tales cannot be compared to this magnificent true-to-life scene.

In any season, Moc Chau has its own upland beauty with year-round cool climate compared to another Dalat of Vietnam. Crape myrtles and flamboyant blooms in the summertime, cover the valleys in purple and red. The plateau is filled with red peach flowers in spring, interspersed by pristine white plum blossoms and mountain-ebony blooms that create a mysterious beauty of the mountain and make mounts sharper. Deeper in mountains is yellow canyon flower stretches. Yellow leaves carpet the soil in autumn. Getting lost in fruit-laden persimmon gardens and taking a bit of strangely sweet fruit is a very special experience.

Nature endows this land with this incredibly poetic landscape, featured by cascading Dai Yem Waterfall. Like its name, this waterfall looks like the overalls (Dai Yem) of a Thai girl. Along winding ways, you will see green tea farms spreading to the horizon. Far in the plateau is the green prairies and lush pastures where fat cows are grazing leisurely. The scene is so peaceful.

Adventure visitors can explore deep caves here like Doi Cave, also known as Son Moc Huong Cave, or hanging tombs on mountain cliffs like Bang River Ghost Cave. Feeling tired, you can dip in the warm natural mineral sink in the Chieng Yen Jungle. The feeling is wonderful.

Casting your eyes afar, you will see zigzag roads hugging the mountains like the Pieu scarves of Thai girls. To experience every arc of roads here, Shimada Hitomi, Chairman of wholly Japanese-invested Japan Vietnam Creative Company drove his car alone to Moc Chau to survey investment opportunities. He said “I have to experience every arc of road to feel how tourists feel when they go with their families to Moc Chau.” He felt fascinated to mix with nature and drove on rough mountain roads to far-lying villages to continue his business intentions. For him, Moc Chau is really needed to be explored. It is like a long-sleeping beautiful girl now needed to be awakened. Hitomi was excited with pristine scenery and warm hospitality of hill-tribe people here. He is cherishing some programmes with Japanese companies to explore Moc Chau and turn it into a real paradise for tourists.

Moc Chau is 175 km from Hanoi and is 1,050 metres above the sea level. It takes four-hour drive and landscape discovery to reach Moc Chau district. The living conditions of local people have been improved thanks to the development of tourism. But, the most important thing is the warmth and hospitability of northwest people. Nguyen Van Binh, Director of Moc Chau Tourism Site Management Board, happily and warmly welcome guests. Devoted his whole life to Moc Chau tourism, he always wants to see more investors coming to tap tourism potential here. “We always roll out the red carpet to welcome investors,” he said.

The land, the people and preferential policies for investors are open to welcome investors. Ha Trung Chien, Chairman of Moc Chau People’s Committee, hoped Moc Chau will be like Genting Highlands (Malaysia) in the near term.
