The Hanoi People’s Committee worked with relevant bodies on July 28 on improving landscape of Hoan Kiem Lake, preparing for the 1000th Thang Long – Hanoi anniversary.
Mr. Hoang Hong Phuong, Deputy Chief of Hoan Kiem Lake Managing Board, said technical infrastructure around the Lake had been improved for several times but not comprehensively and has been deteriorated; for example, the walking path around the lake was paved with different kinds of bricks, not at the same height and improperly distributed; lighting system which is now old and not efficient needs to be reinstalled,…
The Hanoi People’s committee has assigned the people’s committee of Hoan Kiem District and Hoan Kiem Lake Managing Board to study an overall plan for improving the technical infrastructure around the Lake. The City’s Urban Renewal Board will be in charge of reinstalling the lighting system. The project is estimated to spend some VND 37 billion.
Speaking at the working session, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Van Khoi asked the Hoan Kiem People’s Committee and the Urban Renewal Board to co-ordinate in harmony to complete all project’s items.
All necessary procedures need to be fulfilled in order that the project would be started end of October 2009 and be completed in April 2010 at the latest to welcome the 1000th Thang Long – Hanoi anniversary, said Khoi.
This is one of many projects being carried out in the city aiming to create a good-looking for the 1000 year-old capital on occasion of the solemn anniversary.
