Report “Climate Change in Viet Nam: Perspective from Community” to be launched in 2016

“Climate change in Viet Nam: Perspective from community” is the title of an annual independent scientific report on climate change published by the Asian Management and Development Institute (AMDI).

 

M.Sc. Ngo Cong Chinh, Deputy Director of AMDI, Director of the center for research on disaster risk mitigation and climate change, who conducted this report, said: Currently available reports by Viet Nam state management agencies about climate change only focused on policy side, using top-down methodology and approaches.

 

This annual climate change report shall introduce an independent bottom-up approach, giving evaluations and judgments and proposals from viewpoints of community and the most vulnerable resident groups; discuss policy issues in order to promote the participation of non-state scientific and technological organizations, researches and community.

 

After more than 6 months of implementation, the framework of the annual report has been agreed on. It is expected that by the third quarter of 2016, a draft report shall be published for relevant stakeholders and the public to review and give comments before making a final publication.

 

The report is comprised of three parts, Part I: An overview of climate change in the world; An overview of climate change in Viet Nam. Part II. Community role in response to climate change in Viet Nam; Part II. Perspective/potential for future.

 

The purpose to make available an independent scientific report in order to provide manifold and diversified information for practical reference and provide appropriate policy recommendations for Viet Nam. Target readers of this annual report could be managers and policy makers of Viet Nam; international sponsors and organizations; local and international researches; officers of non-state scientific and technological organizations, local and international non-profit organizations.
