Denmark supports Ben Tre to construct 3 climate change adaptation works

Update: 30/05/2016
Ben Tre Province has recently inaugurated two water supply factories using solar energy at An Phu Trung Commune (Ba Tri District) and Phu Duc Commune (Chau Thanh District) and one shrimp farming model adapting to climate change in Thanh Phuoc Commune (Binh Dai Province). All the three works have been sponsored by the Government of Denmark with total investment cost of more than 22.687 billion VND.

The two water supply factories using solar energy can save nearly two-third electricity cost. Each factory with its capacity of 50 cubic meters water per hour can supply water for 7 communes. The shrimp model using high technology has its total investment of more than 18 billion VND. These models expect to be scaled up in the province in the future.

“We know Ben Tre is a province which has been seriously affected by climate change and sea level rise in the last 5 years, so the Government of Denmark has sponsored it with more than 8 million USD to implement high-tech models in order to mitigate negative impacts and minimize using national electricity as well as create clean products, etc.”, Ms. Charlotte Laursen – Ambassador of Denmark to Viet Nam said.
