Responding to climate change is a priority of Viet Nam

Update: 20/06/2016
It was emphasized by Vice President of Viet Nam Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh when she attended the 32nd Session of the Human Rights Council of the United Nations in Switzerland.

Speaking at the opening session, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh confirmed that Viet Nam would actively contribute to ensuring human rights on a global scale.

One of the high priorities of Viet Nam in this session is the response to climate change because the impact of climate change is bringing the challenges in securing food, health, the right to education, the right to housing for millions of people worldwide.

Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh proposed that the Human Rights Council devoted adequate attention to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development and the impact of climate change on human rights because sustainable development was not out of the purpose of guaranteeing human rights.

The Human Rights Council is highly appreciated;in only 10 years of operation, itsimportant role and voice has been shown in dealing with the issues related to ensuring human rights on a global scale; Vice President suggested that the international community must cooperate, strengthen dialogue instead of confrontation or politicization;it would be the way to come up with the appropriate solutions in addressing the issues on human rights. This has been also the approach of Vietnam since it joined the Human Rights Council as well as other forums of the United Nations.
