In order to provide to the National Assembly (NA) delegates multi-aspect views on environmental protection, on November 9 in Hanoi, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) in collaboration with People’s representative online newspaper held a forum “Environmental protection – urgent issues”.
Speaking at the forum, the minister, Tran Hong Ha said: Environmental pollution and natural resources exhaustion have been becoming more serious, effecting health and living of people and causing inhibition among society.
“It is the time we cannot follow the old developing model so we have to keep with new trend of the world as green and low carbon economy”, he said.
The imminent solution for natural resources and environment sector is to make environmental protection planning with the regional and inter-sectorial approach to serve for restructuring the economy. Besides, it is necessary to review and regulate pollution high-risk facilities (operating, testing, constructing, etc.) to determine an obvious roadmap for the collaboration with local authority to handle with environmental issues
Moreover, it is also needed to issue at the soonest, a criteria system for assessing products as well as a list of industries which having environmental pollution high-risk.
With the same attitude with the minister Tran Hong Ha, Mr. Ha Sy Dong – Deputy Chief of NA’s delegation of Quang Tri province said it is necessary to have a strong legal framework and a set of criteria for environmental impact assessment which considers the people’s benefit as the highest priority.
Sharing at the forum, Mr. Phung Duc Tien - the Vice Chairman of NA Committee for science, technology and environment said, towards green growth and environmental protection, it is needed to orient trend of sustainable environment for economic development. When calling for investment, technological and environmental control has to be strictly carried out. Moreover the investigation, supervision and penalty will be also considered at the same time.
