Specific fishing areas have been zoned off to reduce and eliminate near-shore fishing, particularly the catch of seafood types banned from exploitation.
The province also took measures to encourage and help local fishermen build large-capacity vessels, thus promoting off-shore fishing practice.
Annually, the coastal areas together with the seafood sector release young prawns and fish into the sea to recreate sea resources.
A number of off-shore fishing teams have been established in Quynh Luu district and Hoang Mai town to support one another during their off-shore fishing trips.
Nghe An has 82 km of coastline, and its waters are home to 267 fish species and 20 varieties of prawns.
