Golden crops on the terraced fields of Sapa
Update: 23/09/2009
Sapa is greeting Autumn with a glamorous view of golden crops on the terraced fields at the foot of the impressive Mount Fansipan. Autumn is the best time of the year in the mountain town of Sapa. Terraced fields, which look like “ladders to the sky” from the mountain villages of Trung Chai, Ta Phin, Lao Chai, Ta Van, Hau Thao, Ban Den, Suoi Thau, Ban Ho, Ta Giang Phinh…, are always wonderful attractions for foreign tourists.
The fields, created by talented and diligent ethnic farmers, have remained there for hundreds of years.
The Ha Nhi, Mong and Dao people of the Hoang Lien Mountain Range are most famous for their terraced fields.
All the fields, some of which are hundreds of hectares wide, are not only beautiful but very productive.
Sapa’s terraced fields are expected to become a unique tourist attraction after they are recognised as one of the world’s seven most beautiful and magnificent sites of terraced farmland.
