The People's Committee of Quang Nam province, relevant ministries and branches and the Embassy of Japan have recently held a workshop on "Building and developing smart towns in combination with environmental protection".
This workshop is an opportunity for national and international experts and researchers to share models and experiences relevant to smart and ecological towns which successfully applied in the world and in Vietnam’s provinces and cities; to provide appropriate solutions for building and development of smart urban models nationwide in general and in Tam Ky and other cities in Quang Nam province in particular.
At this workshop, many delegates in Vietnam and Japan shared their experiences in building, managing and implementing smart town models; lessons learn and suitable models which can be applied for other cities in the country, including Tam Ky and some other cities in Quang Nam.
"In the current context, finding solutions to meet the housing need while ensuring the environmentally-friendly state is becoming an important issue", said Mr. Tomoaki Tokusa, Research Director of the FMMC Foundation (Japan). The emergence of smart town model is considered as a viable solution to address the problem between urbanization and environmental protection that Japan is one of the leading countries.
In order to apply this model, Vietnam needs to gather and consult people and experts by organizing workshops and meetings; launch the partnership with smart service providers; build solutions to make maximize the utilization of solar energy, reduction of CO2 emissions in the city, stressed Mr. Tomoaki Tokusa.
