Quảng Bình Province debuted tour itineraries to the Hang Vòm-Giếng Voọc cave system late last week, offering visitors another choice for caving trips aside from the world’s biggest cave, Sơn Đoòng.

The cave is inside Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park in the central province. The entrance of the cave’s first section, Hang Vòm, is four kilometres from the western wing of the local section of the Hồ Chí Minh Trail.

Hang Vòm is said to have unique beauty thanks to an internal lake just inside the entrance. It also has underground streams that are tributaries of the local Chày. Hang Vòm is 100 metres wide and 50m high.
Giếng Voọc is the second section of the cave system. It is 400m long and 2.3m wide. The cave has four lakes and several streams inside. The cave is one km from Suối Moọc.
Hang Vòm-Giếng Voọc has magnificent stalactites. Chày River and Suối Moọc are two tourism hotspots in the province.
Việt Hùng Company, a local firm authorised to run caving tours into the cave system, offers two options. Tourists can choose between a one-day trip and a two-day, one-night trip.

Visitors get a chance to trek through the unique local habitat, wade in streams and cave in the karst grottos.
Between July and October, the company ran trail tour programmes in the cave.
Local tourism authorities expected the opening of official tours in Hang Vòm-Giếng Voọc would give visitors a simpler adventure option in the province known as the “kingdom of caves.” Adventure tours that are popular in local Sơn Đoòng, Tú Làn and Hang Én caves require trekkers to be in good health and posses a strong sense of adventure. — VNS
